I am so grateful that we decided to hire Tara as our doula. This was our first birth and it wound up being very difficult for all involved. There's no one who would have been a better person than Tara to have by my side for all those painful hours, both laboring at home and then later at the hospital. There were moments during the labor where she so successfully channeled healing and presence that I thought for sure it was my mom beside me. We were fairly busy leading up to the birth and didn't have a lot of time to spend getting to know Tara (though she made herself available), but that didn't matter at all. Having her with us was extremely natural. She's so warm and open, it's easy to trust her, and she showed a natural grace helping to guide and support us through all the difficulties we encountered. I would recommend Tara as a doula to anyone who asks!-

Tara nonjudgmentally helped me to feel equipped to make birthing decisions based on what I actually wanted instead of based on fear. Because of her pre-education, support, and pain management during labor, I was able to give birth without using any drugs, which I never thought would have been possible. I had some pretty intense back labor and Tara applied counter pressure for hours. She knew when to be comforting and when to kick me into gear. I would highly recommend her to anyone, no matter what their birth preferences are.”

We took Tara’s Childbirth Essentials class through Haumea and decided to work with Tara for the birth of our first baby. We learned so much during her class and she helped us prepare for the birth of our son. My doctor at the time scheduled an induction at 39 weeks for a reason we did not agree on but Tara was there for us every step of the way. I was very nervous and scared to be induced as my plan was to have an unmedicated labor and delivery. Tara helped keep me calm through texting and phone calls. Tara arrived at the hospital once contractions started and coached me through each contraction, reminding me of everything she taught us. She helped me manage my pain and coached me through an unmedicated labor and delivery. She helped me voice my opinion when I didn’t agree with my doctor. My husband and I couldn’t have done it without Tara by our side for 12+ hours. She is truly an incredible person and doula. I am so grateful for everything she has done for our family. Definitely working with Tara again if/when we decide to have another baby!
