  • Placenta Preparation

Placentophagia is the process of a birthing person consuming their placenta postpartum. It is believed that in doing so, they benefit in many ways by replenishing lost nutrients and balancing hormones.

    Raw Encapsulation - $300

Your placenta is prepared and put into capsules using the Raw Foods Method of preparation which uses lower temperatures during dehydration and no steaming. This method yields a more potent capsule. Raw Method capsules are NOT recommended for those with a previous history of anxiety, insomnia, jitters, or sensitivity to hormones.

    Steamed Method - $300

Your placenta is prepared and put into capsules using the lightly steamed method. The placenta is lightly steamed and then dehydrated but is not cooked all the way through and retains many nutrients and vital hormones. This method is recommended if you have a history of anxiety, insomnia, or sensitivity to hormones as it yields a milder capsule.

    Placenta Tincture - $50*

A tincture is a substance that has been fermented in alcohol to extract nutritional substances. When using the placenta, we are taking a small portion of potent, raw placenta and fermenting it for 6 weeks in 100 proof vodka. While capsules are meant for the first 6 weeks postpartum a tincture is the most effective way to preserve your placenta for long-term use. It can assist with hormonal changes, dips in milk supply, boosting the immune system, and helping with menstrual cycles, transition to menopause, and thyroid issues. *Note: Can be done in addition to encapsulation.

Tree of Life Print - $40*

A print of your placenta is made on a piece of professional quality watercolor paper. This print can be done in the natural blood of your placenta or in a food-safe colorant. Most often you will receive 2-4 prints ready for framing.

Both Capsule preparations include pick up of your placenta and delivery of capsules.

A $50 discount is given to clients who are also purchasing birth support.

*There is an additional $50 travel fee if a tincture is the only placenta service purchased.

*There is an additional $100 fee for twin placentas for time and supplies.

    Prenatal Visits

Prenatal meetings give us a chance to meet face to face to get to know each other, talk in detail about your preferences regarding your birth, and help writing a birth plan/preferences sheet. My role is to help you have a satisfying birth as you define it. The more we explore this, the better I may be able to fulfill this role. I will ask about your knowledge of the birth process and can provide information and education as needed. I will want to know your own personal ways of coping with pain, fatigue, and challenging situations and what internal resources we can draw upon to assist you with the birthing experience. I will want to know how you and your birth partner foresee working together and the roles of others who may be attending the birth. We may discuss together what fears and concerns you have regarding the birth and any preferences regarding comfort measures, both natural and medicinal.

    Postpartum Visits

I expect to remain with you for about two hours after birth if everything is uncomplicated. For extended recoveries, I like to stay until the birthing parent-baby dyad is secure. During your postpartum period, I will be available for email or phone support up to 3 months postpartum. Also included is at least one postpartum visit, usually within 2 weeks, where I can provide feeding support, baby care tips, referrals to community resources, and a chance to discuss your birth experience.

  • Postpartum Support

As a postpartum doula it is my goal to help you adjust to the many changes and new challenges you may encounter with a new baby. It is my hope that when you have support, those challenges can feel less overwhelming, your confidence may be higher and your new family can bond and flourish.
